Testing & Measurement

Our Innovation Centers serve customers and support development with tools to understand product and process performance. These capabilities range from nanometer-scale measurement to fully plastic FEA analyses, complementing years of manufacturing experience. Moreover, several custom testing methods have been designed and implemented over the years to better assess product-specific performance. Simply put, we measure what is needed to ensure success for our customers.

SEM/EDX Analyses
Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) are workhorses at IntriPlex Innovation Center. These tools enable a precision view on the nanometer scale and are used to uncover small details that affect product performance in a large way. Analyses range from assessing surface structure to identifying the atomic composition of imbedded particles. In addition, custom metrologies have been developed using this platform to automatically assess particulate cleanliness and ensure the quality of volume parts.

Tensile Testing & Insertion Force
Multiple load frames are available for various applications, and many product-specific methodologies have been developed. We routinely test the tensile behavior of our incoming material and the insertion force of multiple Interference Band configurations. Other examples include peel-strength measurement of laminate materials and adhesive bond strength of Heat Spreaders.

Finite Element Analysis

An important tool that bridges conceptualization and physical prototyping is Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Our engineers have years of experience using FEA to help converge on a solution before spending time and resource on physical testing. Capabilities include plastic deformation, contact and friction, dynamic analyses, and thermal loading .

An extensive array of analytical tool complements the above and is available to customers of IntriPlex Innovation Center. A partial list includes:

Liquid Particle Count (LPC)
Used to detect and measure water-born particles extracted from the surface of parts.

Atomic Absorption (AA)
Provides compositional analysis for various chemical processes.

Ion Chromotagraphy (IC)
Technique used to ensure part surfaces are clean and free of ionic contamination.

Laser Doppler Vibrometry
Characterizes the dynamic behavior of components and systems, and is used to identify resonance modes and system-level interactions.

Passivation Testing
Our lab conducts Mil-Std 753 Method 103 and ASTM 967-01, Practice D (Copper Sulfate) or Practice E (Potassium Ferricyanide) testing to assess the suitability of the passivation layer of stainless steel products.
